‘My Values’ is a resource, created by Lisa and Ali Campbell, for individuals or groups who would like to explore and reflect on their values – their passion, their purpose, their principles and their person (their character). This online space guides you through using the resource on your own, with a team or with a youth group. It accompanies the ‘My Values’ deck of cards which can be purchased from the Wonderful Me! shop.

‘Values are like fingerprints.
Nobodies are the same but you leave them all over everything you do.’
Elvis Presley
Whether we are aware of it or not, we all hold values that inform our practice, shape our approach and influence our decision making. ‘My Values’ leads you through a process of identifying and reflecting on 4 different aspects of those values as we explore Passion, Purpose, Principles and Person.
But, before you dig in, it’s worth taking a little time to consider what we mean by the word values …
Using the 'My Values' cards with youth groups
An important part of growing in our understanding of values is learning and becoming familiar with the vocabulary we need to help us articulate what is important to us.
The values cards are a helpful reflection tool to use with young people to enable them to explore the concept of values and to begin to bring curiosity to the values that they hold themselves. To help you get started, we’ve created a session plan to guide you through using the cards with your youth group.
How to use 'My Values' - Individuals, Teams and Organisations
This resource can be used on your own to explore your personal values – though some people might find it helpful to chat with another person who knows them well (I see you, verbal processors!!!) If that’s you, why not sit with a friend or family member – someone you trust who knows you well – and work through it together.
The identifier tool can also be used within teams and organisations to help you identify, articulate and shape your ethos and approach. When used in this way, it’s important to continually revisit what you identify and define … How are those values reflected in your practice and activities? When deciding on new projects, do they align with your values? Will they enable you to fulfil your purpose?
It’s also important to remember that ‘need’ often informs our organisation values. Our purpose is not necessarily set in stone. As your journey evolves and new needs may be identified, our core purpose and aspects of our values can also evolve. Making space to reflect on that is an important part of healthy development.

This online resource is designed to accompany the ‘My Values’ card deck which can be purchased through the Wonderful Me! online shop.

As with all Wonderful Me! resources, we are passionate about ensuring everything we offer is affordable and accessible for all – so, if the card deck is beyond your budget, don’t worry! We’ve created a free downloadable pdf of all of the values words – but if you can manage to buy a copy of the card deck you’ll find the whole process much easier!
So let's get started ...
Using the Values cards, we have created a process to help you explore and identify 4 aspects of your values – Passion, Purpose, Principles and Person. It will be helpful to have read through the introduction to values first – and you’ll need to have a copy of the Values cards OR the Values pdf to hand. Once you’ve done that, grab yourself a cuppa and let’s dive in ….
The ‘My Values’ resource was created by Ali and Lisa Campbell.
Ali runs The Resource, a youth and children’s ministry consultancy offering training, mentoring and support for those working with children and young people. He is married to the lovely Lisa and they have two wonderful daughters.
Lisa leads ‘Wonderful Me!’ which offers resources, support and training for churches seeking to create safe spaces and bring safe approaches that enable every child to feel safe, seen, heard, included and valued. When she’s not working, you will probably find her up a hill or on a beach with a flask – a cup of tea outside always tastes better!

We are committed to ensuring that resources and support are accessible to anyone who would benefit from them, regardless of their budget.
If you are able to – paying for this resource enables us to continue providing support and resource that is available for everyone who finds it useful.
